The Government of Canada is expanding a new immigration pathway!

Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced that Canada will launch a new economic pathway under the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP).

The Canadian government is launching a new federal pathway as part of the EMPP program to help employers fill in-demand jobs such as healthcare workers, engineers, teachers, and delivery drivers.

This pathway will also be open to displaced individuals who need international protection. The EMPP aims to help candidates restart their careers and contribute to the local economy. More details about eligibility will be available soon.

Canada plans to increase immigration targets to 485,000 in 2024 and 500,000 in 2025 to address labor shortages. The country's population grew by over a million people for the first time last year due to record levels of immigration, foreign students, and workers.

Canada has over 100 economic class immigration pathways, including the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and the Express Entry system. Recent PNP results were announced by four provinces, while the IRCC held two major Express Entry draws inviting 14,000 candidates to apply for permanent residence.
